A two person exhibition featuring work by artists Anne-Marie Watson and Mick Wellbourn.

Anne-Marie’s drawings are handwritten, flowing texts which describe memories and reflections of past events and thoughts on present experiences. They answer urgent, interesting questions or repeat the same word over and over again. Their creation is an absorbing, time consuming process which necessitates commitment and patience. Akin to one off performances the works are highly charged documents imprinted with the intimacy of this personal, repetitive act. Words are transformed into a newly charged material for producing abstract, intricate images.

Mick's drawings use pre-determined systems to trace or follow found and/or created information. These drawings are often developed using time consuming, repetitive and often physically demanding processes that contain performative elements which are sometimes announced, often secret. These processes reveal minimal or hidden information as new layers of abstract complexity.

Anne-Marie Watson lives and works in St Leonard's on Sea, Her recent exhibitions include Hard Graft, St Nicholas Centre, Lancaster; Revolutions, Bury Art Museum and Sculpture Centre; Hummadruz, Newlyn Art Gallery, Cornwall (all 2018) and This is my revolution, Project 78, St
Leonard's on Sea (2016). She has an upcoming two-person exhibition at Galerie Herold, Bremen, Germany in November.

Mick Welbourn lives and works in Leeds. His recent exhibitions include Time: Arrivals and departures, Leeds Print Workshop, Leeds and South West School of Art, San Antonio, Texas; Future Legacies, Stanley and Aubrey Burton Gallery, Leeds (all 2017); Blue Books, Wild Pansy Press Project Space, Leeds; For What It’s Worth, South Square Gallery, Bradford; Disposable Society, Northern Monk, Leeds (all 2016).
