Here at Open Source Arts we are big fans of pedal powered transportation, which is why we're marking Bike Week 2018 with our very own Bike Night event, in collaboration with Leeds Bike Mill
Bike Week encourages people to rethink their everyday journeys and get on their bikes — it's a great opportunity to highlight the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, and Bike Night at OSA will be no different!
From 5-8pm there will be a drop-in FREE bike maintenance cafe, with mechanics from Leeds Bike Mill
on hand to give your trusty steed the once over. Our lovely veggie / vegan cafe upstairs will also be open, offering tasty grub, coffee & cakes for those in need of some sustenance.
At 8pm we will head off together on a Reclaim the Canal bike ride into town! There we'll stop for fluid refuelling, before either riding back up to OSA together or heading homewards, depending on your preference/where home is.
The stretch of the canal we will be cycling has historically been perceived as unsafe, particularly later in the evening, and this solidarity bike ride aims to challenge this by riding together and reclaiming the area.
Following the event we will launch a Reclaim the Canal Facebook page where groups of locals can organise to walk or ride along together.
Please join us to celebrate pedal power & community along the canal towpath!
We are located on Kirkstall road in Leeds — a short walk, cycle or drive from the centre of the city — directly opposite ITV television studios in the Aire Place Mills complex, along with Seagulls Paint & Aire Place Studios. We are the first building on the left with the beautiful large mural outside!
Address: Unit 1A Aire Place Mills, 143 Kirkstall Rd, LS3 1JL
We have very limited parking on site and encourage everybody to walk, cycle, or take the bus (33 and 33A or leeds bradford airport bus 757, please ask the driver for the stop outside Yorkshire Television or Radio Aire). For those who must drive (bringing a broken bike, perhaps?), there is a very affordable carpark directly across Kirkstall Road, outside Yorkshire Television.
We have a cafe serving lovely veggie / vegan food & drinks, but please bring cash as we are currently unable to take card payments. The closest cash machine is at the Shell garage, where Willow Road joins Kirkstall Road, a 5 minute walk along Kirkstall Road, away from the city centre.
