Working towards Chaturanga (Four Limb Staff pose) or not quite sure if you're doing right? Confused by the variations or simply wish to perfect your style? A pose repeated many times in Ashtanga and Flow classes so we need to get it right! We will work through stages of Chaturanga, using different techniques to bring awareness to which parts of the body we need to engage and how we can achieve the correct movement for ourselves in a safe fashion. All levels, including beginners.
Chaturanga is a challenging pose for most of us and as it is repeated many times, particularly in Flow and Ashtanga classes, it is important that we do it with care and with good control and alignment. We will look at ways we can approach Chaturanga and explore different techniques commonly used. We will identify the common mistakes made and learn to activate different muscles so that the work required in Chaturanga is distributed evenly throughout the body, making the posture more streamlined and effective. We will also look at how Chaturanga fits into Vinyasa and what options we can utilise.
Chaturanga strengthens the wrists, arms, shoulders, legs and develops core stability. It prepares the body for inversions and arm balances Modifications will be offered throughout the workshop and we will use props to take some of the body’s weight so that we don’t become fatigued!
An informative workshop which will give guidance for this fantastic pose so you can practice safely and continue to do so for years to come! All levels, including beginners (but not for those with wrist or shoulder injuries). Sarah has been teaching for over 10 years and loves Chaturanga!
