With winter rudely deciding to stick around for an extra month, what better way to exorcise those seasonal blues than with a healthy dose of cushions, incense and ambient introspection? As always, BYOPJ's x
«The aim of this event is to create a performance space that is entirely free from anxiety, where artists and listeners don't feel the need to compromise on their creativity or enjoyment for the pressures of the dancefloor.»
As one of the rising stars in the Leeds electronic music scene, Iglew is widely regarded for his skill and versatility as a producer/DJ.
Drawing inspiration from the fringes of Grime, Bass Music, House, Techno and Ambient (often all at once), Iglew has successfully cultivated a sound that manages to incorporate a wide range of influences, whilst still remaining entirely unique to his own musical identity.
His frequently praised DJ sets are a reflection of this, and often manage to strike the balance between being highly eclectic, and deeply personal all at once. We are truly excited to invite him down for an extended ambient set!
Comprising of Ellii Olivia and Jemma Freese (who previously graced our debut event as 1/3 of the incredible J Frisco), JOULE are a Glitch-Jazz duo that thrive on unconventionality and experimentation in composition.
Using little more than two keyboards and their own voices, JOULE fuse soft harmonies with ambient textures to effortlessly absorb the audience into the atmospheres they create. Delicate, emotional, yet highly unpredictable, this set is not to be missed.
As one of the co-founders of the consistently excellent Bath Time Sessions on KMAH Radio, it's safe to say that Spinach (a.k.a Zoya) knows a thing or two about using music to help soothe those mental muscles.
Anyone that has tuned into her show knows she has a real gift for curating tasteful, eclectic and thought-provoking DJ sets. We are absolutely thrilled to bring you her debut performance in the Tank!
ALEKS PODRAZA & LILY MOHARRER
And now for something completely different!
Highly respected composer and multi-instrumentalist, Aleks Podraza, has been making waves in the Classical/Jazz scene for quite some time now. Having recently diverted his attention towards more electronic modes of musical expression, Aleks will be using a combination of analogue synths and Ableton Live to craft a series of highly immersive soundscapes, reminiscent of early Sci-Fi movie soundtracks.
Joining him will be Lily Moharrer, an accomplished vocalist, who has featured alongside a wide range of musical acts, including Muriel & Blazquez and festival favourites, Jenova Collective.
Together, they will be taking the road-less-travelled, to bring you a mostly improvised set that will surely push the boundaries of personal experimentation for both of these wonderful artists!
