HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We hope your transition into 2018 has been a smooth one!
Although the festive season is a time for celebration, it can also be a stressful experience for some. In the post-holiday period, it is possibly more important than ever that we make a collective effort to reflect and recover.
We are your antidote to 2017 :)
Hailing from Poland via York, we are incredibly privileged to welcome the wonderful Ola Szmidt to the Tank. With mentoring/support from the likes of Four Tet and Gilles Peterson, Ola has been making some serious waves in recent months, culminating in her fantastic debut release, 'EP 1'.
Armed primarily with a microphone and loop pedal, Ola crafts ethereal vocal landscapes to create deeply personal narratives in both English and her native Polish.
Sparse, elegant, and arranged with the utmost precision, this truly is ambient music at its most honest and intimate.
As one of the founding members of the infamously wonky 8MANA collective, the self-styled «Bootylord» can usually be found dismantling dancefloors from here to Budapest.
In an unprecedented (and very special) change of pace, Phrixus will be debuting his brand new ambient project for us!
Using field recordings from his Central American travels, Phrixus will be combining a natural aesthetic with his own brand of digital manipulation to conjure a unique world of his own creation.
Disorientating, demanding, yet fully immersive — this is a journey not to be missed.
Joining us from Manchester, Proximal Records resident Daniel Ruane is steadily becoming a real force within the Techno/IDM scene.
His tight production skills and expert grasp of analogue electronics usually manifest themselves as ferociously energetic live performances.
Alongside his fiercer tendencies, however, Daniel also possesses an astute grasp of melody and texture, often delivering moments of incredible beauty, subtlety and restraint to punctuate the madness. We are very excited to hear some of his more introspective compositions!
MIKE DRONES / ENOBY / LOËPA
Nothing makes us happier than friends joining forces creatively, and these guys are no exception!
Permahigh co-founders Mike Drones and Enoby (aka Lewis Cahill) have a long history of artistic collaboration, releasing music and performing together as Solus Locus, Loopis Drones and Non Ultra. Having already provided us with two exceptional solo sets, we are really looking forward to them teaming up for a rare joint performance.
Lending her vocal stylings to the proceedings will be Loëpa, whose unique voice and compositional skills have blessed their recent endeavours with a depth and emotional resonance that can only be dug from the pit of one's stomach.
