If you have a bit of spare time on your hands, want to try something different and meet new people, you could try your hand at volunteering with the Friends of Kirklees Light Railway.
Visit our Volunteer Recruitment Weekend on 3 & 4 March: meet some of our volunteers and enjoy trying out some typical volunteer tasks.
The days will run between 10am and 4pm and there is no charge to attend (although any train rides will cost the standard fares).
The KLR would not be able to operate without the devoted Friends of Kirklees Light Railway who complete tasks as varied as working in the Ticket Office, refurbishing carriages, guarding, driving the locomotives and everything inbetween!
To become a volunteer, you must be aged 16 years or over and in good physical and mental health. Volunteering may not be suitable for those with some disabilities, particularly where mobility, concentration, dexterity and co-ordination is affected. If you believe this may be a factor, please contact the office before the event on 01484 865727.
You don't have to attend both days of the weekend and if you would like to attend for just a morning or an afternoon, that isn't a problem!
