We are delighted to open Castleton Mill to the public as part of the 2017 Heritage Open Days this year on Saturday 9th September.
We are very proud of Castleton Mill, a beautifully restored Grade II Listed building sitting alongside the Leeds and Liverpool canal close to Leeds City Centre. Built in the 1830s, Castleton Mill was an early steam-powered flax spinning mill and has a rich history within the thriving textile heritage of Leeds.
With the main mill building now restored to house a diverse community of creative businesses and freelancers, we will be open for the day to offer guided tours and heritage talks about the history of the building. We would love to meet people who have worked in the mill during its textile days and hear their stories too!
We will be welcoming visitors with an interest in the heritage of Castleton Mill and those who may have themselves, or have family members who may have worked at the Mill in past.
Activities and refreshments provided. ALL WELCOME!
